Barrage laser

Barrage laser

Description:

Barrage laser photocoagulation is a specialized laser treatment used to manage retinal conditions, particularly those involving retinal tears or detachment. The procedure involves the use of a laser to create a series of small burns or “barrages” around the retina. These burns form a scar tissue that helps to secure the retina to the underlying layers, preventing or addressing retinal detachment and reducing the risk of further retinal damage. This treatment is commonly employed for conditions like retinal tears, diabetic retinopathy, and certain types of macular degeneration.

Symptoms:

Flashes of Light: Seeing sudden bursts of light, often described as "lightning streaks" in the peripheral vision.
Floaters: Noticing small, dark spots or strings that appear to float in the field of vision.
Visual Distortion: Experiencing changes or distortions in the visual field, which may include blurred vision or a decrease in visual sharpness.
Dark or Shadowy Areas: Perception of dark areas or shadows in the central or peripheral vision.
