PRP laser
Description:
PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) laser therapy is a medical procedure used to treat various eye conditions, particularly those related to diabetic retinopathy and age-related macular degeneration (AMD). In this treatment, a laser is used to target specific areas of the retina to reduce abnormal blood vessel growth or leakage. This procedure is often combined with PRP therapy, where a concentrated form of platelets from the patient’s own blood is injected into the eye to promote healing and regeneration.
Symptoms:
Blurred Vision: Difficulty seeing clearly, often fluctuating or progressively worsening.
Dark Spots or Shadows: Appearance of dark patches or shadows in the field of vision.
Floaters: Seeing small spots or threads floating in the visual field.
Reduced Night Vision: Difficulty seeing in low-light conditions.
Visual Distortion: Warped or distorted vision, especially in central vision..
Treatment:
Pre-Treatment Evaluation:
PRP Laser Procedure:The patient’s eye is numbed with topical anesthetic drops.
A laser is applied to the retina in targeted areas to address abnormal blood vessels and reduce leakage.
The procedure is typically performed on an outpatient basis and may require multiple sessions depending on the severity of the condition.
PRP Therapy:Blood is drawn from the patient and processed to concentrate platelets.
The concentrated PRP is then injected into the eye to promote healing and support retinal health.
